Prof. Mangala Fonseka (BSc. (Col.), MBA (Col.), Ph.D (PIM-USJ), FCMA (UK), FCMA, CGMA)
Prof. Mangala Fonseka, Professor in Accounting, Department of Accounting, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, obtained his Bachelorâ€™s degree in Natural Sciences, and Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Colombo. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the Postgraduate Institute of Management of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura for his work on Sophistication of Management Accounting Systems in Public Listed Companies in Sri Lanka. He is a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK, and the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka.
Prof. Fonseka has always shown a keen interest in the twin areas of quality and productivity. He served as Hon. Treasurer and the Editor of Sri Lanka Quality Circles Association and Hon. Treasurer of the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Quality and Productivity.
A keen researcher in the field of Management Accounting Practice in Sri Lanka, he has published widely in this area of study. Prof. Fonseka has also authored and co-authored a number of text books that are popular among postgraduate level students of Management Studies. He held senior positions in a number of private and public sector organizations prior to joining the University system. He has served as the Head, Department of Accounting of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He has also worked closely with a number of professional accounting bodies and is currently Member of the Governing Councils of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka and the National Institute of Business Management. At present, Prof. Fonseka serves as Director, Postgraduate Institute of Management, Colombo 8.
